Job Performance and Responsibilities

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

JOB GOAL:         

     Assist the Director of Child Nutrition and Kitchen Manager in serving the students

     attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of friendliness, efficiency, and

     cleanliness.

 

REPORTS TO:

     Director of Child Nutrition and Kitchen Manager

 

WORKS IN CONCERT WITH: 

     Director of Child Nutrition, Kitchen Manager, and other Food Service Workers

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Aid in preparing meals and plating food as requested by the Director of Child Nutrition and Kitchen Manager.
  2. Assist in maintaining salad bar.
  3. Help with food preparation duties for the day by cutting, peeling, or slicing as needed.
  4. Greet and be welcoming to students and staff as they go through the lunch line, salad bar, or return trays and silverware.
  5. Demonstrate excellent customer service with a positive demeanor at all times.
  6. Assist with cleaning the food preparation area, kitchen, and lunchroom, picking up trash, washing plates and dishes, and wiping down tables as needed.
  7. Adhere to food safety standards at all times, making sure that all food is free of contaminants and pathogens.
  8. Clean pots, pans, and any other dishes in the kitchen as needed, adhering to safety and sanitation standards at all times.
  9. Be able to operate food preparation equipment such as stoves, mixers, steamers, slicers, proofers, and dishwashers.
  10. Assist with inventory when called upon by the Director of Child Nutrition and Kitchen Manager.
  11. Attend and adhere to Serve-safe training, as well as sound food safety and sanitation practices.
  12. Be able to stand for long periods of time, carry objects and lift from 10-50 pounds, perform repetitive motions, or work in cold storage areas.
  13. Perform others duties as assigned.
